The Fleet
We have a
fleet of thirteen sailing dinghies to suit a range of abilities and
needs, plus two Avon RIBs (rigid inflatable boats). These RIBs are our
Safety Boats and they constantly patrol the fleet while a sailing
session is in progress to make sure all is well.
Most
people start with a sail in one of our three Wayfarers, or our larger
Whammel or Viva. These boats are skippered by one of our experienced
sailors so if you wish you can simply sit back and enjoy the ride. As
your confidence grows, you might like to take control of the sheets (the
ropes that control the sails) or even try your hand at the helm
(steering).
If you
already have some knowledge of sailing, you might like to have some
one-to-one tuition in a Wayfarer or take out one of our five Walker bay
dinghies. These ten-foot dinghies have an inflatable collar which makes
them virtually capsize-proof.
Also
available is a Tracer 17-foot keel boat that can be sailed by "sip and
puff" or joystick control systems.
In
addition, we
have two Trimarans which can be sailed single-handed by those with
reasonable upper-body capability.
